2021 ஆம் ஆண்டின் மக்கள் தொகை கணக்கெடுப்பு பணிக்கான விவரங்கள் தமிழக அரசிதழில் வெளியிடப்பட்டுள்ளது. 2021 ஆம் ஆண்டுக்கான மக்கள் தொகை கணக்கெடுப்பு வரும் ஏப்ரல் 1 ஆம் தேதி தொடங்கி செப்டம்பர் 30 ஆம் தேதி வரை நடைபெறுகிறது. 

தமிழகத்தில் ஜூன் மாதம் தொடங்கி ஜூலை மாதத்திற்குள் கணக்கெடுப்பை முடிக்க திட்டமிடப்பட்டுள்ளது. இந்நிலையில், முதற்கட்டமாக வீடுகளை கணக்கிடும் பணிக்கான விவரங்கள் தமிழக அரசின் அரசிதழில் வெளியிடப்பட்டுள்ளது. 

கடந்த காலங்களில் காகித முறையில் நடைபெற்று வந்த கணக்கெடுப்பு பணி இந்த முறை முதல்முறையாக டிஜிட்டல் தொழில்நுட்பத்தில் செல்போன் செயலி மூலம் நடத்தப்பட இருப்பதாக தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. 

இரண்டு கட்டமாக நடத்தப்பட உள்ள மக்கள் தொகை கணக்கெடுப்பு பணியில் முதற்கட்டமாக வீடுகளை கணக்கெடுத்தும் இரண்டாம் கட்டமாக மக்கள் தொகை எண்ணிக்கை கணக்கீடும் செய்யப்பட உள்ளது முதற்கட்ட கணக்கெடுப்பின் போது 31 கேள்விகள் கேட்கப்பட உள்ளதாக தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. 

கட்டட எண், வீட்டு எண், வீட்டின் நிலை, குடும்பத் தலைவரின் பெயர், வீட்டில் உள்ளவர்களின் எண்ணிக்கை, வீட்டிற்கு வழங்கப்படும் குடிநீர் வசதி உள்ளிட்ட விவரங்கள் சேகரிக்கப்பட உள்ளது. 

வீட்டில் உள்ள அறைகளின் எண்ணிக்கை, வீட்டின் குடிநீர் ஆதாரம், வீட்டில் கழிவறை வசதி, கார், இருசக்கர வாகனங்கள், டி.வி., செல்போன் என்பன உள்ளிட்ட கேள்விகள் கேட்கப்படுமென தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
