விவசாயத்தில் ஆர்வம் காட்டும் 9ஆம் வகுப்பு மாணவன்

விவசாயத்தின் மீது உள்ள ஆர்வம் காரணமாக, பெற்றோருக்கு உதவியாக இருந்து வரும் 9ஆம் வகுப்பு மாணவன் ஒருவன், அழிந்து வரும் விவசாயத்தை மீட்க மாணவர்கள் அனைவரும் முன்வரவேண்டும் என்று கோரிக்கை வைத்துள்ளான். விழுப்புரம் மாவட்டம் செஞ்சியை அடுத்த களையூர் கிராமத்தில் வசித்து வரும் சுப்ரமணியம் என்பவர், கடந்த 30 ஆண்டுகளாக விவசாயம் செய்து வருகிறார். பாகற்காய், பீர்க்கங்காய் உள்ளிட்ட பயிர்களை சாகுபடி செய்து வரும் இவருக்கு, 9ஆம் வகுப்பு பயின்று வரும் அவரது மகன் தொல்காப்பியன் உதவியாக இருந்து வருகிறார்.

பள்ளி செல்லும் நேரங்களைத் தவிர, மற்ற நேரங்களில் விவசாய பணிகளில் ஈடுபட்டு வரும் தொல்காப்பியன், பள்ளிப் பாடங்களை வயல்வெளியில் அமர்ந்து படித்து வருகிறான். பள்ளிப் படிப்பை மட்டும் பயிலாமல், அனைத்து மாணவர்களும் தங்கள் பெற்றோருக்கு உதவியாக விவசாயத்தில் ஆர்வம் காட்டி, அழிந்துவரும் விவசாயத்தை பாதுகாக்க முன்வரவேண்டும் என்றும் சிறுவன் தொல்காப்பியன் கோரிக்கை வைத்துள்ளான்.
