கடந்த 20 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பே சுற்றுலாத்தலமான நீலகிரியில் பிளாஸ்டிக் பொருட்கள் பயன்படுத்த தடை விதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. மேலும், ஐகோர்ட் உத்தரவின் படி மாவட்ட நிர்வாகமும் குடிநீர் பாட்டில், தண்ணீர் பாட்டில் உள்ளிட்ட 19 வகையான பிளாஸ்டிகளுக்கு தடை விதித்துள்ளது.

இந்நிலையில், பால் பாயின்ட் பேனாக்களுக்கும் குன்னூர் நகராட்சி அலுவலகத்தில் தடை விதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. பிளாஸ்டிக் பால் பாயின்ட் மற்றும் ஜெல் பேனாக்கள் பயன்படுத்தி வீசப்படுவதால், குன்னூர் மற்றும் சுற்றுப்புற பகுதிகளில் இருந்து நாள்தோறும் 500 கிலோ வரை பேனாக்கள் சேகரிக்கப்படுகிறது. 

இதையடுத்து, முதற்கட்டமாக நகராட்சி அலுவலத்தில் பான் பாயின்ட் பேனாக்களுக்கு பதிலாக இங்க் பேனாக்கள் பயன்பத்தப்பட்டு வருகின்றன. குடியரசு தினத்தில் இருந்து இது நடைமுறைக்கு வந்துள்ளது.

Milk Point pens have been banned from the Municipal Office in Coonoor. Due to the use of plastic milk point and gel pens, up to 500 kg of pens are collected daily from Coonoor and surrounding areas.
