இந்த ஆண்டு 5 மற்றும் 8 ஆம் வகுப்பு மாணவர்களுக்கு பொதுத் தேர்வு நடத்தும் முடிவிலிருந்து தமிழக அரசு பின் வாங்காது என பள்ளிக் கல்வித்துறை அமைச்சர் செங்கோட்டையன் திட்டவட்டமாகக் கூறியுள்ளார்.

சென்னை நுங்கம்பாக்கத்தில் உள்ள தனியார் அரங்கில், தமிழர் திலகம் பத்திரிகையின் 2ஆம் ஆண்டு துவக்க விழாவில் பள்ளிக் கல்வித்துறை அமைச்சர் செங்கோட்டையன் கலந்துகொண்டார். 

நிகழ்ச்சியில் பேசிய அவர், அனைத்து அரசு பள்ளிகளிலும் எல்கேஜி, யுகேஜி வகுப்புகள் கொண்டு வருவதற்கான நடவடிக்கைகள் விரைவில் மேற்கொள்ளப்படும் என்றார். 1 ஆம் வகுப்பு முதல் 12ம் வகுப்பு மாணவர்கள் வரை சரளமாக ஆங்கிலம் பேச, 

ஆயிரம் ஆங்கில வார்த்தைகள் என்ற பாடத்திட்டத்தின் கீழ் வாரம் 45 நிமிடங்கள் பயிற்சி அளிக்கப்பட்டு வருவதாக பள்ளிக் கல்வித்துறை அமைச்சர் தெரிவித்தார். விடுமுறை நாட்களில், ஓய்வு பெற்ற தமிழாசிரியர்களை கொண்டு தமிழ் பயிற்சி, 

மற்றும் நீதிபோதனை வகுப்புகள் நடத்தவும் அரசு முயற்சிகள் மேற்கொண்டு வருவதாக செங்கோட்டையன் தெரிவித்தார். தொடர்ந்து செய்தியாளர்களிடம் பேசிய அவர், 5 மற்றும் 8 ஆம் வகுப்பு மாணவர்களுக்கு பொது தேர்வை ரத்து செய்திட வேண்டும் என்று எழுந்துள்ள கோரிக்கைகள் பற்றி, 

அடுத்த ஆண்டு முதல் பரிசீலிக்கப்படும் என்று கூறினார். நடப்பாண்டு கட்டாயம் பொது தேர்வு நடத்தப்படும் எனவும் உறுதிபட தெரிவித்தார். இவ்விழாவில் முன்னாள் அமைச்சர் எச்.வி ஹன்டே மற்றும் சின்னத்திரை பிரபலங்கள் உள்ளிட்டோர் கலந்துகொண்டனர்.

LKG and UKG classes to be started in Government schools soon: Minister Sengottaiyan

School Education Minister Senkottayan has stated that the Government of Tamil Nadu will not withdraw from the general election results for Grade 5 and 8 students this year. School Education Minister Sengottaiyan attended the inauguration of Tamilnadu Tilak Magazine at a private auditorium in Nungambakkam, Chennai. 

Speaking at the event, he said steps would be taken to bring LKG and UK classes to all government schools. The Minister of School Education said that students from 1st to 12th grade are being trained for 45 minutes a week under the syllabus of 'Thousand English Words'. 

Senkottayan said that the government is making efforts to conduct Tamil training and judicial classes with the retired Tamil teachers during the holidays. Speaking to reporters continuously, he said that the demands for the cancellation of the general exam for students in grades 5 and 8 will be taken up from next year. 

He assured that the mandatory general election will be held in the coming year. Former minister HV Hunte and celebrity celebrities were also present at the event.
