பொதுத் தேர்வு நடத்தப்படும் நேரம் குறித்து, மாணவ - மாணவியருக்கு தெளிவாக விளக்கம் அளிக்க வேண்டும் என்று தலைமை ஆசிரியர்களுக்கு கல்வித்துறை சார்பில் அறிவுரை விடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. 

இதுதொடர்பாக அனைத்துப் பள்ளி தலைமை ஆசிரியர்களுக்கும் மாவட்ட முதன்மைக் கல்வி அதிகாரிகள் சுற்றறிக்கை அனுப்பியுள்ளனர். அதில் கூறப்பட்டுள்ளதாவது: ''தமிழகத்தில் பத்தாம் வகுப்பு, பிளஸ் 1 மற்றும் பிளஸ் 2 வகுப்புகளுக்கு பொதுத் தேர்வு நடத்தப்படுகிறது. 

இதில், தேர்வு எழுதும் நேரத்தை, இரண்டரை மணி நேரத்தில் இருந்து, மூன்று மணி நேரமாக அதிகரிக்க வேண்டும் என்று பல்வேறு தரப்பிலும் கோரிக்கைகள் எழுந்தன. 

இதையடுத்து தேர்வு நேரம், மூன்று மணி நேரமாக அதிகரிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. தேர்வு எழுதும் மாணவர்கள் வினாத் தாளை வாசித்துப் பார்க்க, காலை 10 மணி முதல், 10.10 மணி வரை, 10 நிமிடங்கள் ஒதுக்கப்படும். 

விண்ணப்பதாரர்களின் விவரங்களை, தேர்வறைக் கண்காணிப்பாளர்கள் சரிபார்க்கும் வகையில், 10.10 மணி முதல், ஐந்து நிமிடங்கள் ஒதுக்கப்படும். அதன் பிறகு, 10.15 முதல், மதியம் 1.15 மணி வரை, மூன்று மணி நேரங்கள் தேர்வு எழுதுவதற்காக ஒதுக்கப்படும்.
