குமரிக்கடல் மற்றும் அதனை ஒட்டிய பகுதிகளில் நிலவும் வளிமண்டல சுழற்சி காரணமாக நெல்லை, தூத்துக்குடி, கன்னியாகுமரி, தென்காசி ஆகிய மாவட்டங்களில் பலத்த மழைபெய்யக்கூடும் என்று வானிலை ஆய்வு மையம் எச்சரித்து இருந்தது. 

அதன்படி 4 மாவட்டங்களிலும் நேற்று முன்தினம் இரவு முதல் பரவலாக கனமழை பெய்து வருகிறது.தமிழகத்தில் தென் மாவட்டங்களில் பல இடங்களில் தொடர்ந்து மிக கனமழை பெய்து வருகிறது. தேனி, தென்காசி, விருதுநகர் மாவட்டங்களில் நேற்று நள்ளிரவு முதல் தொடர்ந்து கனமழை பெய்து வருகிறது. 

 இந்நிலையில் தென் தமிழகத்தில் இன்றும் அதி கனமழை பெய்ய வாய்ப்புள்ளதாக இந்திய வானிலை ஆய்வு மையம் தெரிவித்துள்ளது. அதன்படி தென் தமிழகத்தில் அநேக இடங்களில் கனமழையும், வடதமிழகத்தில் ஓரிரு இடங்களிலும் லேசானது முதல் மிதமான மழை பெய்யக்கூடும் என தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

புதுச்சேரி மற்றும் காரைக்காலில் ஓரிரு இடங்களில் இடி மின்னலுடன் கூடிய லேசானது முதல் மிதமான மழை பெய்யும் என தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. 

குறிப்பாக நெல்லை, தென்காசி, தூத்துக்குடி, குமரி ஆகிய மாவட்டங்களில் ஓரிரு இடங்களில் அதிகனமழையும், தேனி, விருதுநகர், ராமநாதபுரம், சிவகங்கை, புதுக்கோட்டை, தஞ்சாவூர் ஆகிய மாவட்டங்களில் கனமழையும் பெய்ய வாய்ப்புள்ளதாக இந்திய வானிலை ஆய்வு மையம் தெரிவித்துள்ளது.

Heavy rain likely in southern districts today - India Meteorological Department

The Meteorological Department had warned that due to the atmospheric circulation prevailing in Kumarikadal and adjoining areas, Nellai, Thoothukudi, Kanyakumari and Tenkasi districts may receive heavy rainfall.

According to this, heavy rains have been falling in all the 4 districts since last night. Heavy rains are continuously falling in many places in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu. Theni, Tenkasi and Virudhunagar districts have been receiving heavy rain since last night.

  In this case, the Indian Meteorological Department has said that heavy rain is likely to occur in South Tamil Nadu today. Accordingly, it has been reported that heavy rain may occur at many places in South Tamil Nadu and light to moderate rain may occur at one or two places in North Tamil Nadu.

Puducherry and Karaikal are expected to receive light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at a few places.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rain at one or two places in Nellai, Thenkasi, Tuticorin and Kumari districts and heavy rain in Theni, Virudhunagar, Ramanathapuram, Sivagangai, Pudukottai and Thanjavur districts.
