ரூபே டெபிட் கார்டுகள் பயன்பாட்டை ஊக்குவிக்க எம்டிஆர் கட்டணம் ரத்து செய்யப்படுவதாக நிதியமைச்சர் நிர்மலா சீதாராமன் தெரிவித்துள்ளார். எம்டிஆர் கட்டணம் என்றால் என்ன என்பது பற்றி தெரிந்துக்கொள்ளலாம்.

எம்டிஆர் எனப்படும் மெர்சண்ட் டிஸ்கவுண்ட் ரேட் என்பது டிஜிட்டல் பணப் பரிவர்த்தனைகளை மேற்கொள்ளும் வர்த்தக நிறுவனங்களிடமிருந்து வங்கிகள் வசூலிக்கும் கட்டணம் ஆகும். யூபிஐ, கியூஆர் கோடு மற்றும் ஸ்வைப்பிங் மெஷின் மூலம் வாடிக்கையாளர்கள், வர்த்தகர்களுக்கு டிஜிட்டல் முறையில் பணம் செலுத்துவதுண்டு. 

அவ்வாறு செய்யப்படும் பணப்பரிவர்த்தனைகளுக்கு, வர்த்தக நிறுவனங்கள் மற்றும் வியாபாரிகளிடமிருந்து வங்கிகள் வசூலிக்கும் தொகையே மெர்ச்சண்ட் டிஸ்கவுண்ட் ரேட் எனப்படுகிறது. மொத்த பில் தொகையில் வர்த்தகரும், வங்கியும் ஒப்புக்கொண்ட சதவிகிதம் கட்டணமாக வசூலிக்கப்படுகிறது. 

சிறு வணிகர்களிடமிருந்து 0.4 சதவீதமும், 20 லட்சம் ரூபாய்க்கும்‌ மேல் வர்த்தகம் செய்யும் வணிகர்களிடமிருந்து 0.9 சதவீதமும் வசூலிக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது. தற்போது டிஜிட்டல் பரிவர்த்தனைகளை ஊக்குவிக்கும் விதமாக இந்தியாவின் ருபே டெபிட் கார்டுகளுக்கு மட்டும் எம்டிஆர் கட்டணம் வசூலிக்கப்படாது என நிதியமைச்சர் நிர்மலா சீதாராமன் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

0.4 per cent of small businesses and 0.9 per cent of traders who are trading above Rs 20 lakh. The Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that MTR charges will not be applied to India's Rupee debit cards as it currently encourages digital transactions.
