இப்போதெல்லாம் பாஸ்போர்ட் 10 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு ஒரு முறை புதுப்பிக்கும் படி வழங்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது. பெரும்பாலான நாடுகளில் காலாவதியாவதற்கு 6 மாத அவகாசம் உள்ள பாஸ்போர்ட் வரை அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது. 

2 அல்லது 3 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு ஒரு முறை என்றால் மக்களுக்கு பாஸ்போர்ட் புதுப்பிக்க வேண்டும் என்று ஞாபகம் இருக்கும். 

ஆனால், 10 ஆண்டுக் காலம் என்பதால் பல பேர் புதுப்பிக்க மறந்து விடுகின்றனர். இதனால் அவர்கள் வெளிநாடு செல்லும் பயணம் கடைசி நிமிடத்தில் தடை செய்யப்படுகிறது.

இத்தகைய சிக்கல்களைத் தவிர்க்க, காலாவதி ஆக உள்ள பாஸ்போர்டுகளை வைத்திருக்கும் நபர்களுக்கு குறுந்தகவல் மூலம் நினைவூட்ட இந்திய வெளியுறவு அமைச்சகம் முடிவு செய்துள்ளது.

இந்த சேவை பயனாளிகளுக்கு மிகுந்த பயனுள்ளதாக இருக்கும் என்று எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.
